Peacefully in hospital surrounded by family on Monday, November 19, 2001 at age 85. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 53 years, Phyllis (Magladry), their daughter Colleen, son-in-law David Pankhurst, his cherished granddaughters Victoria (Glenn Scott) and Natasha, brother-in-law (Mib), sisters-in-law (May, Edith, Kaye) and several nieces and nephews. Bud had 2 successive 20-year careers at the Ottawa Citizen and Hudson Bay Company. He was an avid gardener, a voracious reader, an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs; in earlier times, a square dancer, fisherman, accomplished ukelele player and vocal soloist. He will be fondly remembered for his riotous sense of humor, generosity and cheerful countenance. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Tuesday, November 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, November 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church-Bells Corners, 3861 Richmond Road on Thursday, November 22 at 10 a.m. followed by a reception in the church hall.
