July 27, 1912 - December 6, 2001 Peacefully at the New Orchard Lodge. Eldest daughter of the late Hon. Dr. John Duncan MacLean (Culloden, P.E.I.) and Mary Gertrude Watson (Tara, Ont.). Predeceased by brother Roderick, sisters Jean and Elizabeth (Betty) Tilley (Reid). Survived by brothers Dr. John A. (Toronto), Dr. Bruce L. (Joy) (Calgary), sister-in-law Margaret MacLean (Ottawa) and cousins in Ontario and British Columbia. Jessie is fondly remembered by nieces and nephews, Jock MacLean (Vancouver), Beth Leung and Doug MacLean (Calgary), Cathy Cagniart (Paris), Christopher MacLean (Toronto), Anne (Unionville), Hope MacLean (LaPeche), Robert MacLean (Whistler), Sandy and Rod Tilley (Halifax), John Tilley (Middle Musquodoboit), Betsy Tilley (New York), Joan MacLean-Dagenais (Cuernavaca), Brian MacLean (Ottawa), as well as by the next generation of grandnieces and nephews. Jessie was born in Greenwood, B.C. and educated in Oak Bay, B.C. A graduate of Victoria College, McGill University in 1932, she went on to a long career with the Bank of Canada in Ottawa. A long time member of the Rivermead and Chaudiere Golf Clubs; in later years she enjoyed milder winters in Panama City Beach, Florida. Jessie was instrumental in assisting the late Major Jamie Leys (Irene) establish the R. Tait MacKenzie Museum, the Mill of Kintail in Almonte. A member of the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church for many years, Jessie's passing was consecrated by the Rev. Andrew J. R. Johnston. The family would like to thank the staff at Unitarian House, New Orchard Lodge, the Queensway-Carleton Hospital, the Civic Hospital, and especially Dr. da Costa and the late Dr. Lance Patty. A family memorial will take place at a later date. Interment Beechwood Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry. The Ottawa Citizen, Dec. 14, 2001
