Born in Montreal on July 30, 1907 died December 8, 2001 at the Red Deer Nursing Home. Dan was predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 1997, as well as his seven brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his three children, Carolyn Shields and her husband Ed of Red Deer, Peter of Oshawa and Dan and his wife Darlene of Calgary; his seven grandchildren, Theresa (Kelly), Ed, Leon, Cheryl Ann (Francois), Mary Ellen (Ray), Ryan and Vanessa; and his three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alexander and Peter Jacob (P.J.). Dan worked at Stelco, Montreal for fifty years, served as a School Board member in Pointe-Claire - Beaconsfield and was a founding member of St. John Fisher Parish, in Valois. He has been a member of St. Mary's Parish, in Red Deer for the past ten years. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Eventide Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, on Thursday, December 13, 2001 at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, on Friday, December 14, 2001 at 11 a.m. with The Reverend Erik Riechers Celebrant. memorial tributes may be made to the Red Deer Nursing Home, 4736 - 30 Street, Red Deer.
