British Diplomat (Retired) 15 June 1994 - 16 December 2001 Peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the age of 57 in the Hospice at May Court, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Frances Mary "Bonnie" (Jenkins), who will cherish the memory of their adventures together forever. Loving son of the late Joseph and Ellen Rooney (McConville), Glasgow, Scotland. Loving father of Guy and Joseph. Much loved brother of Eveline (John) Coia, Lenzie, Scotland. Mourned by his nephew Gerrard (Gillian), grandniece Lucy Coia, Scotland, brother-in-law John (Carole) Jenkins, nephew Matthew, Ottawa. Son-in-law of Frances Mary Jenkins Butler, Ottawa and the late W. F. Jenkins, U.K. Terry will be sadly missed by the Jenkins, Hodges, Dack, McPhee and Groves families and by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends in Ottawa and abroad. He will be remembered for his mind, smile, unconditional love for the people in his life, his integrity, his love of life and as a man who made a difference. Terry was a career diplomat for over thirty years of his life, serving in many parts of the world, including Ottawa where he met his wife. He took early retirement and returned to Ottawa. He was a Charter Member and later Vice President and President Elect of the Southenders Kiwanis Club. He was also a charter member of the Canada Ethiopia Friendship Society. A member of the Britannia Yacht Club, where he and Bonnie spent many happy hours on the Ottawa River on board their beloved Dalriada. The family would like to thank the staff at the Cancer Centre, the CCSA, his many caring palliative nurses, his home help and the Hospice at May Court for their support. Particular thanks for the unstinting care of his family doctor Dr. Marc Langill. Special thanks to Father Joe LeClair, Father Norman Dodge and Father Stephen Amesse. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 194 Fourth Avenue, on Friday, December 21, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Britannia Yacht Club, 2777 Cassels Street. a memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hospice at May Court, 114 Cameron Avenue, would be appreciated by the family.
