Saturday, December 22, 2001, in hospital after a valiant battle with cancer at the age of 67 years, with her husband Stanislaw by her side. Janina Kanczuga will be great missed by her sons; Waldemar (Boguslawa) in Poland and Dariusz (Dr. Anna Byszewski). Beloved "Babi" to her grandchildren Filip (Poland) and Karolina, Adam and Oskar. Also survived by her brother Seweryn and nieces Mariola and Danuta in Poland. She spent many years as a school teacher and scout master in Poland. Always full of energy and goodwill she will be greatly missed by her family and friends in Poland and Canada. Special thanks to Dr. Czarnowski; her family physician; the A3 nursing staff, Dr. Barron and the Palliative Care Team (Dr. Chater and Kathleen Green) at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus who all surrounded her with outstanding care. A Mass in Memory of Janina will be held Friday, December 28, 2001, (in Polish) at St. Hyacinth's Church, 201 Lebreton St. at 10:30 a.m. Interment at a later date in Poland.
