At her home, Caledon East, Ontario on Tuesday, December 25, 2001 after a brave struggle with brain cancer, Lambie Steven, in her 65th year, beloved wife of John Heighton. Loving mother of Steven Heighton, Kingston and Pelly Heighton, Ottawa. Doting grandmother of Tara, Christine and Julia Heighton, Ottawa and Elena Heighton, Kingston. Dear daughter of the late George and Lita Steven, Ottawa. Mourned by her sister, Vivian Varvis, Edmonton. Deeply missed by Mary Huggard, Kingston; Don Weerdenburg, Ottawa; brother-in-law, Dr. Chris Varvis, Edmonton; sister-in-law, Anne Martyn, North Bay, and scores of friends. Lambie was born in Ottawa and was graduated from Elmwood School and the University of Ottawa. Lambie devoted her life to the happiness and well-being of her family and friends, and, in return, was much cherished. Her friends at St. James Anglican Church in Caledon East, at the Caledon Kennel Club and the Canadian Federation of University Women branch in Orangeville were wonderfully supportive in her time of need. The card, flowers, gifts, calls and prayers from friends all over Canada, and abroad, gave her the faith and courage to face this ordeal. The family are also most grateful to Dr. Phillip Porter of Toronto Western Hospital, to Dr. James Perry and nurse Anne Blair of the Sunnybrook Cancer Centre, and Dr. Faye Lindsey of Caledon East for their exceptional competence and compassion. The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South, (Hwy. 50), Bolton, Ontario, Friday afternoon 2-4 and evening 7-9 o'clock. Funeral service will be held in St. James Anglican Church, Caledon East on Saturday, December 29th at 2 o'clock followed by a reception at the parish hall.
