MARY BRUYERE It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Bruyere announce her peaceful passing on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 14, 1926 and came to Canada as a war bride following her marriage, in Scotland, to Claude Bruyere on Jan. 19, 1946. Mary was employed as a housekeeper in the operating room at La Verendrye Hospital until her retirement. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cathie, of Fort Frances, Ont.; special daughter and grandchild, Claudette Mary (Jason) of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and sons, Claude Kenneth (Lorrie) of Williams, Mn., and Frank (Judy) of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as her brother and sisters in Scotland, John, Cathy, Jean, and Agnes. She also will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Nicolaas, Ben, Justin, Valerie, Kiesha, Chad, and Tanni; and great-grandchildren, Tanner and Shae. Mom also will be missed deeply by her special sister-in-law, Ruth Bruyere, and niece, Melvina Morrisseau; as well as several brothers- and sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Claude (1992), and son, Fred (1996); parents, Alexander and Catherine Sawers; brothers, Billy, Tommy, and Alec; and her dear pet, Patches. Mary was a dedicated wife and mother who faced each challenge with determination and a quiet dignity which will remain as an inspiration to us all. While Mom knew and accepted that her illness eventually would take her life, she rested in her deep faith in God and her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Her family takes great comfort that Mom is now sitting in the Throne Room of Heaven and rejoicing in the fulfilment of God’s promises. We would like to thank Cathie for working to ensure that Mom’s final wish to remain at home until her home going was honoured. Cathie, you are clearly an example of unconditional love in action. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Monday, July 30, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Green’s Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Sandra McEvoy of Joy of Life Fellowship Church officiating. Interment of created remains immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Fort Frances Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of your choosing. Gramma, there are so many things that you have helped us to see which we can be thankful for but most of all, we are thankful for the honour and blessing of having you as ours.
