Gladys (Sweeney) Allen Gladys R. Allen, 91, of Moncton, NB and formerly of Tusket, NS, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 22, 2002. Born in Carleton, NS, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Emma (Harding) Sweeney. She retired from nursing in the Yarmouth Hospital in 1964, and continued to manage nursing homes for several years. She was a member of the Tusket and Tusket Falls Women's Institute. She moved to New Brunswick in 1970. Gladys will be sadly missed by granddaughter Janice Leger, with whom she resided; son-in-law Ron (Nan) Leger; and niece Barb and her husband Charles Brittain. She is also survived by daughter Greta of Halifax; granddaughter Shauna of Ontario; brothers Edwin Sweeney of Halifax and George Sweeney of Yarmouth; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by beloved daughter Gwen Leger; brothers Harry, Ashael, Frederick, Laurier and Alfred; sisters Bernice, Ada, Alfreda, May, Edithe, Margery, Esta and Laura. A special thank you is extended to Phyllis Anderson; Debbie and Evelyn MacNair; Sue LeBlanc; Cathy Shea and Jessie Murphy. A graveside Memorial Service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens on Monday, August 26, at 3.30 PM with Rev. Andrew Richardson officiating. Following the service, the family will be receiving relatives and friends at the home of Ron and Nan Leger, 190 Cardigan Lane Moncton. In Gladys' memory, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a memorial of the donor's choice.
