Gilbert C. Meredith Gilbert C. Meredith 82, of Moncton passed away at The Moncton Hospital on August 29, 2002. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Tom and Elizabeth (McQuirter) Meredith. He was retired from CNR after 37 years of service. He was a member of the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Acacia Lodge #49 F & AM, and The Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch #6. Gilbert was a veteran of the second World War enlisting with the Carleton & York regiment in 1939. During the Italian Campaign, he was mentioned in Dispatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished services. After the war, Gilbert was the Regimental Sargent Major in the reserve army. He was a talented writer and produced four handwritten journals of life's experiences that he lovingly re-produced for each of his children. Gilbert will be missed by his wife of 55 years Marion (Ross) Meredith, daughter Mary Worth, husband Gary, their children Joanne & Benjamin - Vancouver; son Gilbert, wife Judy, their children Susan, Peter, Kathryn- Riverview; son Bruce, wife Anne, their child Kyra, Oshawa, Ontario. The last remaining member of his family, he was predeceased by sisters Marion, Della, Enid, Eva, Nina, Lillian and brother Davies. By request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family will hold a private interment service. "May I go forth with a conscience clear, prepared to be judged by my Maker, and to meet all those who have gone before, where trouble and pain are no more."
