Frederick Gordon PERRY

Frederick Gordon Perry AMHERST, NS - Frederick Gordon Perry age 78, of Moncton, NB and formerly of Eddy Street, Amherst died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Amherst he was a son of the late Patrick A. and Eva M. (Fraser) Perry. Fred joined the army in 1942 and went overseas with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and later served in Italy as a stretcher bearer with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. # 10, Amherst. After the war he reenlisted with the RCR Special Forces where he served as a Paratrooper. Upon his retirement from the military he worked as a maintenance supervisor for St. Thomas-Elgin Hospital in St. Thomas, Ontario. Fred owned and operated Perry's Esso in St. Thomas, Ontario. He resided with his former wife, Florence in Moncton,. Fred is also survived by one son Gordon P. Perry Perkins (Sarah); two grandsons Robbie and William all of St. Thomas, Ont; six brothers, George (Verna) of Moncton, Ernest "Nin", Lloyd, Jack (Olive), Hubert (Phyllis) and Garnet all of Amherst; two sisters, Patsy (Billy) McManaman of Amherst and Joyce (Raymond) Babineau of Moncton, and many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his second wife Betty and three brothers, Ed, Bob and Norbert. Resting at Campbells's Funeral Home, 98 Church Street, Amherst with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion Br. # 10, Amherst will hold their service on Monday at 7 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 10 a.m. from St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
