Edith Claudia Elizabeth Rice (Bovard) NEW GLASGOW, NS - Edith Claudia Elizabeth Rice (Bovard) passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of the 14th of June, 2002 in her apartment at East River Manor, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. She was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on November 29, 1913 to Claud D. Bovard and Mabel Prince. She was predeceased by her brother Edmund Bovard; her husband Leon Herbert Rice (August 13, 1986); and recently by her daughter Barbara Jane Smith (Rice) (June 13, 2002). She is survived by her son Randolph James Rice. She is remembered by her sonin-law, J. Douglas Smith; his mother Katherine P. Smith; her grandchildren Alexa M. Smith and Aaron C. Smith; as well as by her niece Brenda Mitton; her nephew Leon Mitton and his wife Simone; her first cousin Winston Prince and his wife Dorothy. She attended Oulton's Business School in Moncton, New Brunswick where she met and married her husband. Cremation took place with the assistance of Porter's Funeral Home on the 15th of June in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Commitment of her ashes beside her husband in the Elmwood Cemetery in Moncton, New Brunswick will take place with family and friends attending at 4 pm on August 8, 2002. Half of her daughter's ashes will also be committed at that time. A reception hosted by her niece Brenda Mitton will follow the interment.
