The funeral service for Carmel Brooks, 45 Ontario St., Kapuskasing, will take place at 2 p.m. today at Notre Dame de la Paix church. Rev. Fernand Villeneuve will direct the service. Spring interment will be in Opasatika. Ms. Brooks, 75, died Dec. 27, 2002 at Sensenbrenner Hospital. She was born April 20, 1927 in Brownington, Vermont, U.S.A. A housewife, she belonged to les Femmes Chrétiennes, ministre de communion in Opasatika. She liked to read, knit and crossword puzzles. Ms. Brooks was predeceased by her husband Patrick, son Pierre, brothers Hillaire, Antoine and Cécilien, sister Marguerite Leclerc and a son in law, Raymond Laberge. She leaves five sons: Walter (Denise) of Chateau Richer, Luc (Georgette), Donald (Pauline), Pat (Catherine) and Raymond (Alice) all of Kapuskasing, and six daughters: Monique (Lucien) Deschesne, Lisa Laberge and Linda (Fidel) Turgeon all of Kapuskasing, Jeannine (Barry) Belshaw, Sudbury, Lorraine (Narcise) Bélanger of Hearst, and Aline (Rémi) Carrier of Mattice. Also left to mourn are sisters Lina Chevrier of Sault Ste. Marie, and Antoinette Larochelle and Patricia Sigouin of Kapuskasing, two brothers Aimé and Arthur Beausoleil, both of Kapuskasing, and 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
