Michael Whelan of Bowmanville, died at Sensenbrenner Hospital on Nov. 15, 2002. He was 55 years-old. Mr. Whelan was born in Huntsville on June 7, 1947. He worked as a first class engineer for Industrial Plants. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Bowmanville and enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, driving and playing the guitar and piano. He was described as having a thirst for knowledge and a very good sense of humour. Mr. Whelan was predeceased by his father Michael. He is survived by wife Donna Wells of Bowmanville; mother Stella Coleman of Kapuskasing; daughters Jennifer (Brent) Carey, Kimberly Whelan (Edward) and Joanne )Danny) St. Amant, all of Thunder Bay; and two step-daughters Christine (Jordan) Clark and Lindsay Clark (fiancé John), both of Whitby. Also surviving are sisters Louise Schmidt and Kellie Charlebois, both of Kap and Patricia Belisle of Timmins; and brothers Stephen, Randy, Jeffrey and Smitty, all of Edmonton , Darrell of Houston, BC, and Tim of Orillia. Mr. Whelan had five grandchildren: Brittany, Aden, Megan, Melanie and Keegan. Rev. Roger Pronovost officiated the funeral service at St. Patrick’s Church. Mr. Whelan will be interred at the Kapuskasing Cemetery.
