Funeral services for lifelong Mattice resident Ulysse Rancourt, 63, of 154 Third St. were held Oct. 15, 2002. He died Oct. 12 in Mattice following a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 28, 1939 in Mattice, he operated logging equipment for Buchanan Forest Products until his 1996 retirement. He enjoyed fishing, working in his garage, and berrypicking. He was predeceased by his brothers Victor and Marial Rancourt, a sister-in-law Pierrette Rancourt, and brothers-in-law Gérard Fauchon and Robert Fauchon of Mattice. He leaves his wife Henriette (née Bérubé) of Mattice, daughters Sylvie (Alain Bérubé), Christine (Bert Levesque), and Annie Rancourt, all of Hearst, and Kathy (Jean-François Mercier) of Mattice, sons Daniel (Chantal) and Dean (Isabelle), all of Hearst, and Yves (Julie) of Sault Ste. Marie. Also surviving are sisters Raymonde Fauchon, Colombe Fauchon, and Gaetanne (Aurelien) Plamondon, all of Mattice, and Marie-Josée (André) Cloutier of Timmins, and brothers Abel, Alexandre (Elaine), Pierre (Angélina) and Robert (Renée) Rancourt, all of Mattice, and 11 grandchildren. Rev. Jean-Guy Mailloux officiated the afternoon service at the Église St-François-Xavier Church in Mattice. Interment followed at the Mattice Cemetery.
