Peacefully at home on August 26, 2002 Mr. Gilles Joseph Girard of Kamloops passed into the presence of his Lord after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 55 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Irene; two sons Daniel of Victoria and Rob of Edmonton; his three sisters Jean (Jerry) Dufour of Val d’Or, Quebec, Rose Brunet of Kapuskasing, Ontario, Ghislaine (Gaetan) Brunet of Kapuskasing; and one brother Charles (Nora) of Kapuskasing; several nieces and nephews and other relatives, and his many dear friends. Gilles was predeceased by his parents and one brother and two sisters. He was born in Ontario and came to B.C. in 1966 and eventually settled here with Irene in 1972, to create a future and a family. He worked construction as a driller and blaster and was a longtime employee of Lafarge Cement in Kamloops. Memorial Service was held on Friday, August 30, 2002 at the Valleyview Bible Church, 104 River Road with Pastor LaMont Schmidt officiating.
