Funeral services for Hearst Foyer des Pionniers Nursing Home resident Gemma (née Poisson) Caron, 81, were held July 8, 2002. She died July 6 at the Foyer while asleep. Born June 23, 1921 in Parent, Quebec, she came to the Hearst area in 1952 from Rouyn-Noranda. Described as one who liked to tease as well as help others, she enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening and animals. Predeceased by husband Armand Caron of Hearst in 1995, she leaves her daughters Nicole (Marc) Lecerc and Denise (Jean-Guy Roy) Caron, all of Hearst, and sons Roger and Claude Caron, both of Hearst. Also surviving are four sisters, two brothers, brother-in-law Ronald (Marie) Caron of Hearst, and granddaughters Marie-Josée and Caroline, and grandson André. Rev. Jean-Roch Pelletier officiated the morning service at the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral. Interment followed at the Monseigneur Grenier Cemetery.
