Funeral services for longtime Hearst area resident and retired contractor Robert Charbonneau, 78, of Kitchener St. were held May 18, 2002. He died May 15 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a brief illness. Born April 10, 1924 in St-Arsène, Quebec, nea Mon he came to the Hearst area in 1934. Owner of Charbonneau Construction, he retired in 1979. An active cross-country skier for 15 years, he was a member of the Hearst Cross-Country Ski Club board and enjoyed listening to jazz music and reading. He leaves: his wife Jeannine (née Hallé) Charbonneau of Hearst; sons Simon of Hearst, Jean (Carole) of Boucherville, Que., and Daniel Charbonneau of Fort McMurray, Alberta; and a daughter Julie Charbonneau of Fort McMurray. Also surviving are: his sisters Pierrette (Roland) Racine of Montreal, Gisèle (Lionel) Fortier of Rouyn-Noranda, Que., and Huguette (Roger) Paquin of Kapuskasing; brothers Jacques (Huguette) of Montreal and Claude Charbonneau of Hull, Que.; and granddaughters Andréanne, Gabrièle and Janine as well as grandsons Julien and Daniel Jr. Rev. Rémi Lessard officiated the afternoon service at the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral. Interment was at the Monseigneur Grenier Cemetery.
