Mattice resident René R. Labelle, 71, of 254 Parkview died Feb. 15 at Notre-Dame Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1930 in Mattice, he worked at Levesque Lumber until its 1992 closing. A member of the Mattice Club d'Age d'Or , he enjoyed bingo, playing cards, berry picking, and gardening. Predeceased by his father Ludgier Labelle in 1989 and a son Daniel Labelle, he leaves his wife Claudette (née Labranche) of Mattice, his mother Juliette Labelle of Kapuskasing, sons Michel (Ginette) of Winnipeg and Gaetan of Rouyn-Noranda, Que., and Stéphane Bouchard of B. C., and daughters Carole (Scott) Campbell of Edson, Alberta. Also surviving are sisters Irène Grondin, Rollande, Armande and Florence, and brothers Fernand, Réal, Donald, Léonard and Denis Labelle, as well as eight grandchildren. Rev. René Grandmont will officiate the service at St-François-Xavier Church in Mattice.
