Joseph Leo Tremblay NORTH TETAGOUCHE, NB - Joseph Leo Tremblay of North Tetagouche, NB, died in Bathurst, NB, on Friday, October 4, 2002 of a rare neurological disease. Survived by his best friend and loving wife of 46 years Yvette (Belanger); children, Louis (Marie), Bathurst, Henry (Helen), St. John's, and Lise (Herb) Scott, of Stonehaven; brother, Paul Tremblay (Diana), Saskatoon; and long-time friends Nelson and Pierette Thibault of North Tetagouche. Predeceased by parents Philip and Anna (Fortin) Tremblay; sister, Gilberte, and brothers, Maurice, Roger and Harvey. Born in East Bathurst in 1931 he enlisted in the RCAF in 1950 retiring with the rank of major in 1978. He concluded his working career of 44 years distinguished service to Canada in 1995 as Director of National Services, a component of Human Resources Development Canada, Bathurst. During his working life and since his retirement Leo served on various boards and committees as an active contributor. A hunter, fisherman, conservationist, bridge player and unfailing fan of the Montreal Canadiens, he was a man of great warmth and gentle humanity, all touched by his characteristic wit and humour that certainly touched many people during his lifetime. Those who met him will not forget him, but more than anyone else, his family members will miss this dear sweet man who meant so very much to us. His passion for the New Brunswick outdoors and all wildlife was such that we will forever cherish his legacy. The family acknowledges and extends its sincere appreciation for the compassion and professionalism of the staff of the Foyer de Notre-Dame de Lourdes during his stay, with special thanks to Maurice and Robert. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bathurst on Friday, October 18 at 4:00 p.m. For anyone wishing to send tokens of sympathy, the family request that memorial donations be made to Le Foyer de Notre-Dame de Lourdes, Box 1400, Bathurst, NB E2A 4P9.
