A. Pauline Thomas With her loving family at her side, A. Pauline Thomas passed away at her daughter's home in Woodstock, N.B. on October 29 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. Polly, as she was known to her many friends, was born in Kirkland, N.B. She was the daughter of the late J. Leslie Kennedy and Jenny (Anderson) Kennedy. Polly was a graduate of Woodstock High School and the Provincial Normal School, after which she worked in Edmundston, Brownsburg, Quebec and Ottawa. She proudly served her country in WW II as a leading W.R.E.N. in the Navy. It was during the war that she met her husband, the late Charles H. Thomas, Member of Parliament for Moncton from 1968 to 1974. Polly lived for over 50 years in Moncton where she lovingly raised her three children, assisted her husband in his business and political life and later conducted a successful real estate sales career for several years. She was an active member of the community and was involved in several local service and volunteer groups. A member of the Moncton Curlers Association for many years, Polly was an active competitive curler, winning two provincial championships and playing at the national level in the Diamond"D" championships. An avid golfer, she was very proud of the hole- in-one she shot in Myrtle Beach at the age of 80. She also competed at the national level in lawn bowling. Polly loved to travel and play bridge with her dear friends. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Maggy Thomas Nadeau (J.P.) of Woodstock; sons Terry (Wendy) of Woodstock and Tim (Patricia) of Riverview; grandchildren, Michelle, Alison (Mario), Jennifer, Adam, Matthew, Gilliane, Nathalie; sister-in-law, Joan Kennedy of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Charles; brothers, Donald, Richard and Thomas; sister, Mildred; and nephews, James and Leslie. Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home (852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton on Friday November 1 from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held in St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Park Street, Moncton on Saturday November 2 at 11 am with a reception to follow in the Church hall. Interment will follow in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens Saturday at 1:30 pm. Donations may be made to the memorial of the donor's choice. www.fairhavenfh.com
