SCHOLFIELD, Gertrude Elsie (nee Barrett) Peacefully, at Royal Gardens Home in Peterborough, on Saturday, April 20, 2002, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Donald (February 6, 1996). Dearly loved mother of Paul and his wife Ina, Brian, Sandra and her husband Dan Berube. A beloved sister of George Barrett and his wife Verna, and the late Lorene, Esther (Goldbold), Del (Pugh), and Frank. Dear Grandma to Brian, Karin, Wendi, Jeff and Laura. Great-Grandma to Amberley, Spencer, Oliver, Kaycee, Trudi, Eric and Devon. Fondly remembered by Barbara, Terry, Peter and Brennan (Low), Donna Scholfield, and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude, a career homemaker and mother, was a woman of many talents. An accomplished pianist and piano teacher, as well as a competitive athlete, she excelled in tennis, badminton and curling. Her passion was golf and, as a member of the Toronto Ladies’ Golf Club for over 30 years, she played into her nineties. She was a former member of Kimbourne Park United Church and a longtime involved member of Leaside United Church. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto (1-800-616-3311), one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held in the chapel on Saturday, May 4, at one o’clock. A reception will follow.
