PEARTON, James "Scott" 66, East Lawrencetown, NSdied Saturday, August 31, 2002 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec,he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret (Scott) Pearton. Upon graduating high school, Scott joined the Canadian Navy, serving upon HMCS Algonquin and HMCS Bonaventure. He then began an avionics career, spanning over 40 years, managing the Simulator Support Facility (SSF) for the CH-124 Sea King Helicopter at CFB Shearwater. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Daphne, daughter Jane (Doug) Murchison, grandchildren Ryan and Meaghan, all of Halifax, sister Elizabeth (Bob) Halliday (Peterborough, Ontario), aunts Anne Grady (Quebec) and Naomi Beairsto (New Hampshire) and several cousins, nieces and nephews. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 10 a.m. at St. James Church, Seaforth. Reverend David Garrett and Reverend Dr. Tom Curran officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
