MACKENZIE, Marianne Emma (Cocks), 73 years at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Thursday, October 31, 2002. Wife of 55 years to Donald "Don" James MacKenzie; mother of Donna and husband, Brian Whatley of Fraserville; Richard, Alice and friend Eric Curtis; John and wife Jennie, of Peterborough; grandmother of Eli, James and Shawn MacKenzie. Daughter of the late John J. Cocks and Susannah Tebb; daughter-in-law of the late James MacKenzie and Grace Smith; sister of William E. Cocks, the late Alice Wells, Archibald, Walter, John "Jack" Cocks and Clifford Darling; sister-in-law of Eileen and Joan Cocks, the late Dorothy and Ada Cocks, Horace Wells and Kathleen "Kay" Darling. Marianne worked at the Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives for 25 years and was the first Archivist; she was the first chairperson and then Honorary President of the Smith Township Historical Society; was a volunteer at the Bridgenorth Public Library; a founding member, volunteer and member of the Board of Directors of the Trent Valley Archives. Marianne was an accomplished pianist, obtaining her Associate in Music designation in 1950. She enjoyed sharing her love of music for many years as organist for the congregation of St. John’s Anglican Church in Lakefield and taught many students throughout the Lakefield and Bridgenorth areas in their homes. We, her family, invite you to join us in our Celebration of Marianne’s Life on Tuesday, November 5th at 1 p.m. at Kaye Funeral Home, 539 George St. N., in Peterborough where friends and family are welcomed to share with us their thoughts and memories. Reception to follow across the street at George Street United Church Hall.
