HEROLD, Judith Anne (nee Shortts) In loving memory of Judith Anne Herold (nee Shortts), after a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday evening, May 9th, 2002 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Judith was born April 23rd, 1942 in Kingston, Ontario. Beloved daughter of Cameron and Margaret Shortts of Sudbury and sister of Jane Shortts residing in Toronto. Devoted and loving wife of John M. Herold of Sudbury. Loving mother of Cameron (wife Jane) residing in Vancouver, Todd (wife Jody) residing in Sudbury, Kristi (husband Rolston) residing in Toronto. Loving "Gran" to Cassidy Miller, Aidan Herold and Jackson Herold and one other due May 2002. Judy always believed in volunteering and giving to others and the community. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. Judy canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society for more than 30 years, and volunteered at Sudbury’s NEORCC for 9 years. A member of IODE (Elizabeth Fry Chapter) for 25 years where she held several positions including that of Secretary and Regent. Judy was a member of the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club where she served on numerous committees, held executive positions as Secretary and President of the Women’s Golf Section and Secretary and Treasurer of the daytime Women’s Curling Section. When she was not volunteering somewhere, she was always busy knitting, sewing, quilting, making teddy bears and cooking for all the special people in her life. Judy was a devoted wife, mother and wonderful grandmother, truly one of a kind, and her bright smile, spirit and memories will live on through her husband, children and grandchildren who will miss her greatly. Memorial Visitation at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury (Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.) Memorial Service in St. Peter’s United Church, 155 York St., Sudbury on Monday, May 13th, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Judy Herold Bursary (for Cancer research education at Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre) would be appreciated.
