BARDEGGIA, Aldo In loving memory of Aldo Bardeggia, 96 years. of Sudbury, who passed away Saturday morning, May 11th, 2002 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph’s Health Centre. He was born in Urbino, Provoli Marche, Italy and married Margherita (Vampa) in Sudbury 1931 after his 1st wife Nazzarena (Galanti) died in 1930. Aldo emigrated to Canada in 1927 settling in Sudbury in 1929. He retired from INCO in 1970 with 40 years service, having achieved the position of Blacksmith leader. Always an innovator Aldo was awarded both in 1960 & 1961 the maximum permitted under the suggestion plan program at INCO. He was most proud of this achievement. A leader in the trade union movement he was instrumental in the organization of Mine Mill Local #598. He was a faithful parishioner of St Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. A well liked and respected member of the local Italian Community he was a founder of the Copper Cliff Italian Club, a life member of the Caruso Club and the oldest member of the Associazione Marchigiana. An avid outdoorsman he had a passion for hunting, fishing which he pursued at his camp near Espanola. He was also an accomplished gardener. A determined individual, Aldo lived his life on his own terms. He was a keen observer of current events. His lifetime passion was dancing and music. Aldo inspired all who knew him. He will be missed but his memory will be cherished by his loving family and many friends. Beloved husband of Margherita (Vampa) Bardeggia predeceased 1988 and Nazzarena "Lalla" (nee Galanti) Bardeggia predeceased 1930. Loving father of Ada Elliott (husband John) of Palmdale, California, Mary Antoniazzi (husband Lino predeceased) of Sudbury, Loris (wife Yolande) (1st wife Patricia predeceased) of Sault Ste Marie, Elia Sartori (husband Louis), Victor (wife Faith) and George (wife Beverley) all of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Italy. Dear friend of Ermida Rossi of Sudbury. Son of Celso and Matilde Bardeggia both predeceased. Dear brother of Pina Carletti, Franco Bardeggia (wife Renza) and Vera Bardeggia all of Urbino, Italy and the late Elio Bardeggia predeceased. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church, 19 Mary St., Sudbury, Thursday, May 16th, 2002 at 10 a.m. Interment in the Parklawn Cemetery.
