McDONALD, Francis Donald "Frank" In loving memory of Francis Donald "Frank" McDonald, 77 years, of Capreol, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, June 22nd, 2002 at his residence. Born in Cache Bay, he married Beatrice (Watkins) in North Bay. Frank came to Capreol in 1959 from North Bay. He had been an accounting clerk with the CNR having 34 years service, retiring 1982. A proud Canadian, Frank was a decorated WWII Veteran, having recently received a medal from the Dutch Legion. He joined the Medical Corps in 1943 serving in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He helped at the first hospital constructed behind the front line. He was a well respected member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #179 Capreol. A devout Roman Catholic he attended Our Lady of Peace Church where he took an active interest in the parish ministries and projects. Frank was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus with Council 3866. Always quick to help others he regularly volunteered in neighbourhood canvasses for worthy causes and he had been a regular blood donor for many years. A real people person Frank generously shared his good humour and wonderful gift of conversation with all he met. Frank was a cornerstone for Capreol always there to work, help and encourage. He can truly echo the words of St. Paul "I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith". Beloved husband of Beatrice (Watkins) McDonald of Capreol. Loving son of John and Clara (Cummings) McDonald predeceased. Dear brother of Norman (wife Justin) of Mississauga and the late Michael and Rada both predeceased. Dear brother-in-law of Sheila Marshall (husband Freeman predeceased) of Lively and Clifford Watkins (wife Ruth) of North Bay. Sadly missed by many loving nieces and nephews. Special cousin to Barry Cummings (wife Cathy) of Garson. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, HANMER/CAPREOL CHAPEL, 4605 Michelle Drive, Hanmer. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Peace Church, Capreol, Tuesday, June 25th, 2002 at 11 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. Prayers 4:45 p.m. Monday. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #179 Capreol. Donations to the Heart & Soul Campaign Cancer Services or Heart Equipment Fund would be appreciated.
