DICKSON, Hilma Maria (nee Leppanen) In loving memory of Hilma Maria (nee Leppanen) Dickson, 87 years, formerly of Portage Ave., passed away Tuesday evening, June 25th, 2002 at the Pioneer Manor. She ames was born in Copper Cliff and married James Dickson in 1935 in Sudbury. A life resident of the Sudbury area, Hilma was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Church where she actively participated in the church’s ministries and fellowship. She had been a longtime member of the church’s U.C.W. having served on its executive. She also had been a Presbytery delegate for St. Luke’s. While her family was growing up she had participated in the Home & School Association and a volunteer for the sea cadets. In later years she enjoyed going to bingo having made friends at Bingo 1 & Capital with whom she shared her wonderful gift of good humour. Hilma embodied the values of motherhood. She was happiest when surrounded by her loving family. Her loving was always an inviting and welcoming place for family love and gatherings. Beloved wife of James Dickson predeceased 1994. Loving mother of James (wife Joyce) of Sudbury, Edward of Kimberley, B.C., Moira of Toronto, Valerie of Aylmer, P.Q. and Judith of Sudbury. Cherished grandmother of Heather (husband Dan Rea), Averil (husband Joe Wiley), Jeffrey, Erin (husband Darren Grant), Joshua, Sarah, Pamela (husband Steven Goodale), Patricia (husband Alex Cameron), Wendy (husband Don Noble) and Virginia (husband Tim Popowich) and 20 great-grandchildren. Dear daughter of John Leppanen predeceased; Maria Karki (husband John) both predeceased. Dear sister of Jean Koski and Emilia "Amy" Leppanen both predeceased. Special thank you to the staff of Pioneer Manor for their excellent care and support. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Saturday, June 29th, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium.
