Alfred CZAIKOWSKY

CZAIKOWSKY, Alfred In loving memory of Alfred Czaikowsky, 87 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Friday night, July 5th, 2002 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph’s Health Centre. He was born in Ukraine and married Olga Malarczuk in 1941. Alfred and his wife Olga came from Ukraine and settled in Sudbury with the Ukrainian Community in 1949. He worked with INCO for many years and then went on to build and operate the Traveller’s Motor Inn in 1972 until 1990. After his retirement he was very active with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76 and St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Beloved husband of Olga (Malarczuk) Czaikowsky predeceased 1989. Loving father of Vera Fontaine (husband Rene) of Verner, Nick of Sudbury and Zorina (David) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Lena, Christine (John), Rhonda (Mike), Jamie (Theresa) and Nick Jr. (wife Theresa). Great-grandfather to Angel, Derek, Christine, Andrew, Anthony, Casandra and Carter. Predeceased by his parents George and Paraska Czaikowsky. Dear brother of Nick (wife Mary) of Hamilton and Ann Choptian predeceased (husband Peter predeceased). Will be missed by his nephew Dr. Bill Yakivchuk and niece Natalia Oschypko both of Ukraine. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wednesday, July 10th, 2002 at 10 a.m. Interment at the Civic Memorial Cemetery. Panahyda will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial service will be held under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76 on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Heart & Soul Cancer Services would be appreciated.
