SUTTON, George J. In loving memory of George J. Sutton, 74 years of Sudbury who passed away Tuesday, July 16th, 2002 at the SRH - Laurentian Site. He was born in Buffalo Gap, Sakatchewan and married Nellie (Bello) in 1948 in Creighton. George came to Creighton in 1944 from Saskatchewan. He then lived in Lively before settling in Sudbury. An INCO 1/4 Century member he had worked as a miner, then mechanic retiring as a hoist inspector in 1986 with 42 years at INCO. A devout Roman Catholic he attended Christ the King Church. He was a well known & respected 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. He took many leadership roles in the Sudbury Council and he was the Mr. Fix-It for the hall on Solidarity Lane. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge. In younger days he was a proud volunteer with the Creighton Mine firefighters. Always quick to help others he volunteered for many worthy causes including Meals on Wheels, the Special Olympics, the Arthritis Society and a driver for the Algoma. He enjoyed playing crib & euchre, attending WHEO gatherings and his CB radio friends. George will be remembered as a generous person who shared his good sense of humour with all who knew him. Beloved husband of Nellie (Bello) Sutton predeceased 1990. Loving father of Spencer (friend Susan) and David (wife Leslie) both of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Sean (friend Sasha), Brian, Alan, Neil, and Cheryl. Sadly missed by his canine friend Butch. Dear son of George and Lillie Sutton predeceased. Dear brother of Ruth Sitter (husband Walter) of Regina, Ruby Danforth (husband Danny predeceased) of Calgary, Goldie Cojocar (husband Louis) both predeceased and Sylvie Sutton predeceased. Special friend to Flore-Ange Tomassini of Sudbury. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Church, 30 Beech St., Sudbury, Friday, July 19th, 2002 at 10 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Soul Cancer Services would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-9 p.m. Thursday). 7/18/2002- ID603966 - Sudbury Star
