SUMMERVILLE, JAMES A. - James A. Summerville of Hampton, husband of "Honey" Dianne (Mason) Summerville died January 16, 2002 at his residence. He was born at Saint John, son of the late Archie and Dorothy (Neal) Summerville. Jim was a devoted husband and father. He was Past President of Hampton Minor Hockey, Hampton Minor Baseball and Hampton Horse and Pony Club. He was Past Umpire and Chief of Hampton Softball Association, Certified Umpire Instructor, Umpired Big League Nationals in 1990, Little League Nationals in 1993 and Canadian Orthodox Championships in 1997. Jim was Manager of Hampton Indians Intermediate Baseball Club. He was Chairman of the Board of Managers for St. Paul's Presbyterian Church and President of St. Paul's Men's Group. Lifelong honorary member of NB Tel Pioneers. Jim received an award for outstanding contribution to volunteer work in the community of Hampton. He worked at NB Tel for over thirty years retiring in 2000 and was currently in partnership with Atlantic Network Solutions. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Scott (Heather) of Saint John, Mark (Katrina Spencer) and their son Trueman, Troy (Angela Arsenault) of Saint John; one sister, Gloria Jackson (Rev. David Jackson, deceased) of Rexton; sister and brother-in-laws, Gene and Hilda Mason, Lorna Flowers, Joe Mason (deceased) and wife Myrna, June and Dick Thorne, Jack Mason, Muriel and Leslie Short, Abbie and Ron Brown, Gary Mason and Kevin O'Toole; several nieces and nephews. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Sunday at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church with service at 3:00 PM Rev. Kent Burdett will officiate. Interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery. Memorials to Hampton Minor Sports, 530 Main Street, Hampton, NB, E5N 6C3 would be appreciated by the family. Visiting 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM Saturday. www.reidsfh.com
