CARTER, ELSIE BLANCHE - Surrounded by love, Elsie died peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital on Thursday, January 17, 2002, in her 104th year. Elsie (Patterson) was born in Gaspe, Quebec, July 8, 1898. Until her death, she was a staunch and courageous woman, who was loved and respected by her family and friends. After her husband's early death in 1939, Elsie became one of Gaspe's first female business executives, managing the family's substantial shipping and fuel supply operations for several years. She was a faithful member of the All Saints Anglican Church in St. Andrews. She is survived by her four children; Betty Teeple of Thunder Bay, Allison (Connie) of Victoria, Wilfred (Pauline) of St. Andrews and Bernard of Gaspe. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Allan, Janis, Glen, Linda, Brent, Susan, Mark, Craig and Blake, six great grandchildren; Patrick, Timothy, Alexander, Lena, Anna and Stefan and her care giver of 13 years, Suzanne Stewart. The memorial service will be held 2 PM. on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the All Saints Anglican Church in St. Andrews. Interment will be at Gaspe, Quebec at a later date.
