CORMIER, MRS. MARIE LEONA (PAQUET) - The death of Leona Cormier occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 17, 2002. She was the daughter of the late Amedee and Ida (Robichaud) Paquet and was born in Shippagan, NB but spent the greater part of her life in Saint John, NB. After moving to Saint John in 1944 Leona worked for the Household staff of the late Mr. Kenneth C. Irving and the late Lieutenant Governor Lawrence D. McLaren. She was later employed at the former Admiral Beatty Hotel and Nicholas Bros. Restaurant. A loving wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gerard Cormier; three sons Bernard J. (Elizabeth), Paul and Raymond (Marybeth) of Saint John, NB, two daughters Barbara (Michael) Rooney of Grand Bay-Westfield and Linda Morrison of Quispamsis; five grandchildren Andrew, Kelly Ann, Aimee-Lynn, Shawn and Kayla; three brothers Lionel (Alma) Paquet of Montreal, Norman (Marie) Paquet of Montreal and Roger Paquet of Montreal; five sisters, Adonia White of Toronto, Ernestine Savoie, of Montreal, Lea Turner of Aurora, Ontario, Therese (Ernest) of Grand Falls, NB and Yolande Paquet of Saint John, NB. Besides her parents she is predeceased by two brothers, Roger Paquet (infant) and Gerald Paquet, one sister, Leontine Robichaud several brothers-in-law and one son-in-law Christopher A. (Sandy) Morrison. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday, January 20, 2002, 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street on Monday, January 21, 2002 at 12:00 PM, followed by interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Acts of remembrances can be made through donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice. The family extends sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their ongoing support and care of Leona in her final days.
