At home after a prolonged illness on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Beloved wife for 56 years of Donald S. Purdy. Daughter of the late R. Milton Freeman, former Mayor of West Hull and Eva Freeman. Survived by daughter Patricia Betcher (Robert) of Winnipeg and son Dr. Richard Purdy of Montreal. Predeceased by brother William. She will be missed by her niece Linda Edey (David) and nephew Brent Freeman (Diane) and her sister-in-law Beatrice Freeman. She was a longtime member of St. David and St. Martin Presbyterian Church where she was an active member of the Woman's Association and the Agnes Gollan Circle. Their family wishes to express their thanks to those whose kindness and caring support made it possible for Ruth to remain at home during her long illness, Dr. Louise Coulombe and Dr. Kathryn McFarland, Connie Brock and Edith Ngoryia from the Nurses Registry, Andy Cucullo who provided meals and humour and Home Care Workers, Irene Lalonde, Suzanne Cousineau and Sharon Matthews. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Friday, January 11, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. David and St. Martin Presbyterian Church, 444 St. Laurent Blvd., on Saturday, January 12, at 3 p.m. Donations to the Community Nursing Registry of Ottawa and St. David and St. Martin Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
