1923-2002. In Kahnawake on January 16, 2002 at the age of seventy-eight years, passed away Matthew Diabo, Iron worker local 36. He was a World War II veteran (1942-1945), 3rd infantry division, 10th combat engineers. Peacefully with his family at his side at Kateri Memorial Hospital. Survived by Margaret, his children Donna (Rickey), Rakwirenhtha, Dennis (Shelley), Linda (Louie), Sandra, Carrie (Tony), Jeffrey (Jennifer), Mitchell (Esther), Debbie (Randall), Donald, David, Watio (Billie-Jo), 38 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Resting at the Royal Canadian Legion Mohawk branch 219, Kahnawake. Funeral service will be held Saturday January 19 at 2 p.m. in St. Francis Xavier Mission. Niawenkowa to the caregivers, staff and doctors of Kateri Memorial Hospital for their good care, kindness and support shown to Matty and his family for the past fourteen months.
