Age 86. Passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 20, 2002 at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, Ontario. John was born in England and received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History in 1937 and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics in 1950, both from the London School of Economics. He and his wife Mary moved to Canada in 1949 where he went on to become Vice-President, Alcan Finances Limited. John was an avid book collector, enjoyed anything to do with steam engines and railroads, was an excellent photographer, and loved to travel. John is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Margaret Collins and Anne Collins (Donald), sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Bob Shanks, niece Mary Siteman, and nephew, Mike Shanks. Many thanks to John and Mary's special friends, Kay and Rob Guy. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2002, at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, Ontario. The Ottawa Citizen, 23-01-2002
