FLANK, John Norman(Jack) 2008-12-09 Mr. John Norman Flank (Jack), aged 80 years, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer‘s disease. He was born in Fort William on July 29, 1928 to Thora and John Flank and grew up on the family farm in Pearson Township. He enjoyed two seasons working on Paterson‘s Vandoc sailing on the Great Lakes. In 1952 Jack began driving transport and after acquiring his mechanics licence, became lead hand in Motorways garage in 1974, retiring in 1990. He was fond of the outdoors, looking forward to hunting season and fishing trips. Summers were spent at camp at Sandy Beach for 40 years. Holidays included trips across Canada and the USA. Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanne; sons Jerry, Joe (Wendy) and Jeff (Colby); grandsons Richard, Brett and Ryan; granddaughters Stacey (Bobby), Erin, Jacqueline and Jessica; great-grandchildren Kayla, Briana, Caitlin and Matthew; siblings twin sister Doreen Cork, Olive (Ron) Thomas, Florence Johnston, Roberta (Pat) Edwards; sisters-in-law Isabel Flank and Melba Flank and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Thora and John; sisters Marie Fulton, Margaret Kearney and Rose Bass; brothers Edmond, Eugene and Robert; sister-in-law Gretha Flank and brothers-in-law Ray Fulton, Douglas Bass and Victor Kearney. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Family and friends are invited to join us at Rosslyn Community Centre on Thursday, December 11, 2008 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. for a memorial gathering.
