MacKENZIE, "Granny" Christine 2008-12-12 The family of "Granny" Christine MacKenzie sadly announces her passing at T.B.R.H.S.C. on December 10th. Born May 27th, 1925, she dedicated her life to being a loving, caring mom, fun Granny, and the best baker known to anyone on her "cookie list". Granny was the number one fan and supporter of Thunder Bay‘s Special Olympic Floorhockey Team and a proud member of the First Presbyterian Church. She proudly served her country in WWII. Granny‘s great sense of humour entertained everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. At 83 years of age, Granny was survived by sisters Donella Smith, Anne & Don Kells, son Geoff, and daughter Karen & Alex Boyd. She left everlasting memories with grandchildren Iain & John, (the boys mother Mary Anne), Duncan, Amanda and Lindsay. Granny‘s niece Alyson "Babe" Pert was like a winter green lifesaver to her, her absolute favourite. Also left to mourn are Don & Heather, Joan, Isobel, and little Heather as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Words cannot describe how much her loved ones will miss her. Predeceased by husband Duncan, parents Angus & Mary Jean Gillies, and sister Agnes. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is to be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday December 15th at 11:30am with Rev. Bert VanCook officiating. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Shelter House or a charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made through
