HAIGH, Jim 2008-12-13 JIM HAIGH On Thursday December 11, the Haigh family lost their husband, Dad, Papa and Papa Jim. James Frederick Haigh was born in Fort William on February 18, 1927 to Nellie (Emily Ellen Cheney) and Fred (George Frederick) Haigh. Educated at Ogden and The Vocational Schools; Jim spent most of his working years at Pilkington Glass and The Lakehead Board of Education as a glazier and in other trades. In his teens, he joined the Navy and was later active in the Navy League and Sea Cadet Corps, serving as Commanding Officer and in other positions. His love of the Navy, his pride in his work and the friendships formed throughout, lasted his lifetime. Foremost Jim was a family man; rarely seen without Lorraine, his wife of 59 years. Together they loved to visit and entertain family and friends and took interest in each other’s hobbies. He loved making or building models, especially planes and ships and model trains and stations. He was a talented painter and artist and enjoyed sitting at his table on Empire Avenue working at his crafts. Jim was predeceased by his parents Fred and Nellie, sister Pat (Arlene) Murie, and brother-in-law Don Murie. Missing him dearly are wife Lorraine (Lundberg) daughter Sharon Whent (Ken) grandchildren Maggie Harvey, Jake Whent, great grandchildren Alexis and Brandon. Son Terry Haigh (Cathie) grandson Andrew. Son Randy Haigh, grandchildren Dain and Connor. Numerous in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Funeral services will be held Monday December 15, 11:00 am at First Church United. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made through
