PIDLUZNY 2008-12-14 The family of Florence Pidluzny sadly announce her passing at St. Joseph‘s Hospice, after a long courageous battle with cancer on December 11, 2008, peacefully with family at her side. Florence was born in Fort William on June 24, 1941 and was predeceased by her father Paul and mother Nellie. Her life as a teacher began in 1960, at Rosslyn Road School, when she graduated from teacher‘s college. She moved to London and worked as a special education teacher for five years. Florence moved back to Thunder Bay and obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Lakehead University. She worked at Heath Park and Crestview schools teaching primary grades until her retirement. Florence took great pride, over the years, in her many student‘s accomplishments as she read about their educational achievements. She also motivated many students with her dedication to learning. Florence will be remembered as an avid gardener with her greenhouse and many beautiful flower gardens. Her flower baskets were highly sought after by family and her nieces who she taught how to garden once they had their own yards. She loved to learn new things and upon retirement took watercolour and Tai Chai classes. She became an exceptionally gifted Ukrainian Easter egg crafter and Christmas ball decorator with her artwork, which was admired and collected by many. She kept active with league bowling, golfing and enjoyed bingo/casino outings. She will be lovingly remembered by her Aunt Nettie Urick, as a much loved aunt by her nieces Debbie Inman and Lisa (Joe) Tyance - great nieces Karli, Summer - great nephew Sky. Survived by her sister Patricia (Dan) Inman - nephews David, Rick, Mike (Barb) – great nephew Matthew, brother Paul Pidluzny-nephew Shawn (Winnipeg), niece Shannon (Winnipeg). Florence will be sadly missed by her dear cousin Patricia (Peter) Noble of Sault Ste Marie – Godson James Noble, Menasha, Wisconsin – Goddaughter Kimberly, Dr. Seth Udlis – Ethan and Eric, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, cousin Maurice (Marjorie) Gelmych and family, the Gayoski Family, Judy (Ed) Barrie nee Gayoski, Wroxeter, Ontario her life long childhood best friend and special friend Debbie Gayoski. Her cat Sammy was her treasured companion. Her travels through Europe with friends and tours through the USA with close friends were highlights in her life. The family of the late Florence Pidluznuy would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. D. Dueck, Kathy Bean Nurse Practitioner and the rest of the TBRHSC – Regional Cancer Centre staff team, Dr. G. Davis, Dr. C. Pokrant, Dr. S. Malek, and Dr. D. McKee for their compassion and care shown to Florence. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, if friends and family desire, donations to the St. Joseph‘s Hospice Unit and or the Thunder Bay District Humane Society. Cremation will take place and a private family graveside internment service will be held as per Florence‘s wishes. WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James in care of arrangements. Remembering all the times we shared. Auntie, we will miss you so very much now you‘ve gone. You were a centre in our lives, before your soul passed on. It‘s just so hard for us to believe that you are really gone. But we celebrate your life and all the things you gave us, Our wonderful memories, Auntie of you. Are the things that will comfort us.
