Gordon Deck October 09, 1932 - October 30, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Suddenly, on October 30, 2005, Gordon passed away at the age of 73. He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Katherine Deck. Gordon will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 48 years Eileen; sons Drew (Janice), Mike (Sandee); daughters Leslie (Brian, Andrea and Jesse), Tracey (Martin) Rakar; grandchildren Martin, Kevin, Dustin, Devon, Danielle, Ryan, Adam, Matthew, and Hannah. He will also be missed and fondly remembered by his siblings Beatrice Mildenberger, Dianne (Clem) Bechard, Ken (Joan) and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Gordon was born in Sedley, Saskatchewan, and moved to Regina where he worked for CKCK Television. He moved to Winnipeg in 1966 and worked for CBC until his retirement in 1992. In his younger years Gordon was an accomplished hockey and baseball player. He loved being in his "second home", his garage; tackling any one of many projects he had on the go. He had a great sense of humour, enjoyed a great game of cards, and will be remembered for his tenacity, kindness and compassion. Gordon “Pops” was devoted to his family; he gave of himself and asked nothing in return. The family would like to thank the first responders, the emergency staff at the Health Sciences Centre, Dr. T. Minish, nurses Lori and Juneanne and Father Glofcheski. A memorial service will be held on Friday November 4, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Gordon's name may be made to Grace General Hospital, 300 Booth Drive, Wpg., MB, R3J 3M7 or Kidsport Manitoba, 200 Main St. Wpg., R3C 4M2. A Heart of Gold A heart of gold stopped beating Working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Leaves and flowers may wither, The golden sun may set But the hearts that loved you dearly Are the ones that won't forget.
