Evelyn Mary (Shibley) Hardman POINTE CLAIRE, QC - "Evy" to her close friends, Evelyn passed away on Nov. 16 in Pointe Claire, Quebec, age 95, just short of her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband John (Jack), she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Judy and son-in-law Roger Cameron of Pointe Claire, Quebec. Loving grandmother of Scott (Kathy) of Camberwell, Australia; Jamie (Nina), Pointe Claire; Heather (Pat) and Peggy (Stephane), Montreal, Evelyn was the proud great-grandmother of Angela, Evan, Robert, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Killian and Aimee. She will be missed by her much-loved nieces and nephews and their families, and lovingly remembered by her dear friend Reta Cameron of Petitcodiac and her family. In 1946, Evelyn and Jack moved from Ontario with their daughter Judy to Lakeburn where Jack worked on aircraft at Lakeburn Airport. Evelyn had many wonderful memories from a time when Lakeburn was humourously referred to as "Dogpatch " or "The Patch" by its residents. It was a time when lasting friendships were made by people who came from other parts of the country and whose only "family" was close neighbourhood friendships. They lived at 16 Robinson Street, right next to the old Lakeburn Elementary School. They moved to Moncton in 1955 and, after Jack's retirement from the Department of Transport, moved to Winnipeg. They eventually moved back to Moncton in 1976. When Jack passed away in 1985, Evelyn moved to Pointe Claire to be near her daughter's family, eventually living with them. She will join Jack at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens after a life well-lived following a memorial service in Pointe Claire. Any recollections of Mum or Dad would be most welcome. Please send to Judy Cameron, 86 Chester Ave,, Pointe Claire, Quebec H9R 4J6. [Times & Transcript]
