ALLEN, Craig Johnston It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Craig J. Allen. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, sons Kirk and Kevin, mother Ora (Stew) Coxford, sister Kim (Colin) Rowan, brother Kirk (Cheryl) Cannon as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. Craig was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. His career in the RCMP from 1964 - 1972 brought him to Banff, Alberta where he fell in love with the mountains and where he called home for 30 years. Here he ran a successful retail business. Craig's passions were diverse - racing cars, playing tennis, skiing, riding motorcycles, mountain biking and perfecting the art of fly fishing. He devoted much of his time to the Canadian Ski Jumping Association acting as National Team Director and supporting the athletes in the 1988 and 1992 Olympic games in Calgary, Seoul and France. He also enjoyed a brief career as a NHL scout for the Edmonton Oilers. Craig and Cheryl moved to Kelowna in 2000 in pursuit of a warmer climate and in hopes of improving Craig's golf game. The family would like to thank the staff at Sun Pointe Village and Brookhaven Care Center for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Canada. A celebration of Craig's life will take place November 18th, 2005 at the Banff Park Lodge, Banff, Alberta at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME LTD. 250-860-7077 Published in the Ottawa Citizen on 11/18/2005
