SPARKES, ELEANOR AGNES After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Eleanor passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on November 26, 2005, at the age of 79. Born in Stanley, N.B. she remained a proud member of the community all of her life. Daughter of the late Samuel and Mina Tomilson, Eleanor is predeceased by her husband Elmer Sparkes, and sister Marie (Ian) Logan. Eleanor graduated from Stanley High School and went on to obtain her certification as a hairdresser. She owned and operated her shop for 46 years, during which time, her clients became lifelong friends of the family. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Barbara (Doug) MacDonald; grandsons Kirk and Christopher (all of Stanley, N.B.); chosen brother and sister Jack Keenan and Edna Richardson; special family members Susan (Bill) Smith, Mark Logan and Courtney Smith-Jones, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Active in the Saint Thomas Anglican Church since her youth, Eleanor faithfully attended service and served as a Sunday School teacher and long time member of the choir, along with holding several offices in the ACW over the years. She was a member of the Stanley Golden Age Club, the Cosmetology Association of New Brunswick, the Mactaquac Progressive Conservative Association, and a volunteer with the Stanley Agricultural Society #35. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, baking, and the joys of spending time with her family and friends. Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton, N.B. on Monday, November 28, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at 2 pm from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Saint Thomas Anglican Cemetery, in Stanley, N.B. For those who wish, contributions may be made to the Saint Thomas Anglican Church Memorial Fund.
