Frederick Ronald Sennett February 28, 1915 - November 27, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre Mr. Frederick Sennett, aged 90 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2005. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1915, Fred moved to Fort William in the 1930’s to manage a Shop Easy Store. He enlisted in 1939 and served overseas during the war, returning to Fort William in 1945 where he met and married Irene Nevison in 1947. He was employed with Shop Easy for over 30 years until he and Irene opened Sennett’s Variety Store on Victoria Avenue in 1969 where he happily served the needs of his many customers for the next 10 years. He and Irene enjoyed many years of world traveling both before and after retirement. Throughout his life he was very active in his community. He was a Charter Member of the Fort William Kinsmen Club and was awarded a Life Membership for his service. He was also a member of Kaministiquia Lodge #584 and an elder at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed curling with the Take-it-Easy Curling League where he also received a Life Membership, carpet bowling with his neighbours and his weekly crib games. He was a dedicated volunteer with Shelter House, formerly with the Vickers Heights Community Centre, and could often be found selling tickets for various charities at the malls. He was recognized by the City of Thunder Bay for his volunteer work. He relished his summers at Green Bay where he was free to putter around in his yard all day. Fred was predeceased by his parents, his sister Eileen Potts and his wife Irene. He is survived by his daughter Judy, sisters Amy Dorsett of Pickering, Ontario, Vera Cluett of Didsbury, Alberta, one niece and four nephews, as well as cousins in England. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Bert Vancook at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with a Masonic service to be held prior to service time at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew’s Memorial Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
