Edson Lester Fraser July 12, 1926 - January 08, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) FRASER, Edson Lester - 78, Dartmouth, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2005, in Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. Born on July 12, 1926, in Higginsville, he was a son of the late Bryson and Vera Fraser. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean (Glawson); sons, Darrell (Beth), Dartmouth; Sid (Alana), Liverpool; daughters, Lori (Bob) McDonald and Cathy (Bill) Bell, both of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Jody (Suzanne), Heather (Jeff), Terri Anne, Chad, Jamie, and Mark; great-grandchild, Bret. Also surviving are brothers, Fred (Elva), Richard (Bernice), Allen (Carol), Francis (Donna); sisters, Marion, Dorothy (Duncan), Julia (Bob), Bernice (Byron); several nieces and nephews. He was a carpenter by trade, employed as a foreman for McCurdy Brothers for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows (I.O.O.F.) holding many positions retiring as Past Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge. He loved sports and was very active in his younger years as a coach and umpire in minor baseball. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, with funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Ivan Gregan officiating. Private family burial will follow. A reception will be held in the funeral home reception room following the service. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
