CHAPPELL, Robert - Passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital McLaren Site on Monday, December 1st, 2008. Robert George Chappell was born to Charles and Anne Maude Chappell of Wilsdon London, England on October 28th, 1914. Moved to Lewknor South Oxfordshire in June 1918 where he received his education at the Church of England School. He joined the Watlington Branch of St. John's Ambulance Brigade in 1935, joined the British Army in the Second World War 1940, got married to Sylvia in June 1941 and immigrated to Canada in June 1947. He was employed by the Hallnor Goldmine Porcupine, moved to McGarry Township in May 1950 and lived in Kearns for 48 years. Was a long time employee of Kerr Addison gold mine, retired October of 1979. Predeceased by his parents, two sisters Coralie and Alice and two brothers Charles and Ernest. Was a member of the Waltlington Branch of the Royal British Legion, a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Larder Lake #293 ON. Was initiated into Doric Masonic Lodge #623 in 1962, was master of the lodge in 1972, took his demit in 1992 as a member of St George Masonic Lodge #263. Had life membership with Heritage Masonic Lodge #730. Was a life member of Kirkland Lake Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons #251, member of the Kirkland Lake Ionic Chapter #113 order of the Eastern Star. Made several trips back to the U.K. Robert enjoyed camping, traveling and photography. As per Robert's request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place.
