ELLIS, John Jarvis June 8, 1921 - July 12, 2004 Peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a victorious battle with cancer. Always larger than life, he was graced with an extraordinary zest for life. When he physically could no longer savour every day, he quietly left us. Already missing his remarkable wit, humour and courage are his wife and companion of 57 years, Betty (nee Anderson), children Dorian, Mark (Suzanne), Jody (Cathy) and Sara (Pat). John was a proud Gaffer to grandchildren Devon, Jordan, Christina, Caitlin, Grant and Michael. John was a loved and lively brother to William (deceased), Elizabeth and David. A life full of fishing was punctuated by a wide variety of endeavours and interests: Barrister, Solicitor, Engineer, Patent Agent and Trade Mark Agent. Education: BASc Metallurgical Engineering, University of Toronto 1948; Ontario Bar, Osgoode Hall, 1960. Appointments: RCAF, 1940-1945, served with 212 Squadron RAF; partner at Fetherstonhaugh & Co., Patent and Trade Mark Agents and at Smart & Biggar, Patent and Trade Mark Lawyers. Memberships: Past President, Patent and Trade Mark Institute of Canada; Professional Engineer, province of Ontario; Canadian Bar Association; American Patent Law Association; Licensing Executives Society, Burma Star Society and the Maganasippi Fishing Club. Friends are invited to his Funeral Service at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 125 McKay Street, on Friday, July 16th at 11 a.m. In his memory, those wishing may make a donation to the wonderful team at the Palliative Care Outreach Program, 1455 Woodroffe Avenue South, Ottawa, ON, K2G 1W1 (723-1184). Arrangements by the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 233-1143. The Ottawa Citizen
