McCULLOUGH, D. Earl May 29, 1920 - July 2, 2004 WWII VETERAN (made D-Day Maps) CWO (RSM) CDN ARMY MAPPING & CHARTING ESTABLISHMENT (Ret.) One of the "YACHT CLUB BOYS", Earl sailed to the War in Europe in January 1940 on the first boat load of soldiers to head for Britain on a converted cruise ship, and remained in the army until 1972. After retiring from the Canadian Forces, he supervised the survey work for the rebuilding of the Alaska Highway. He was also the first non-commissioned Officer to teach an academic subject (Photogrammetry) at RMC. Predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Christine (Turner) and beloved granddaughter Chantal. He is survived by his 3 children, Bill (Norma), Janet (Jacques) and Valerie (Ray); 8 grandchildren, William, Karen (Derek), Debbie (Lyle), Kevin (Amy), Angela (Chris), Julie, Melanie and Kristin; 4 great-grandchildren Virginia (O'Neil), Dylan, Jacob and Daniel and 1 great-great-grandson Riley. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre, 1750 Russell Road, Ottawa, Ontario, followed by a Reception for family and friends. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Nepean, Ontario. For info contact Janet, 819-643-6632.
