KETTER, Mary (nee Swords) - In loving memory of Mary (nee Swords) Ketter, 88 years, formerly of Blezard Valley, who passed away Monday evening, December 8th, 2008 at the Extendicare-York Sudbury. Mary was born in Welland and married George Ketter in Welland in 1938. Mary lived in Haileybury for 9 years, North Bay for 20 years settling in Blezard Valley in 1973. She had been a book keeper at various businesses for 50 years retiring in 1986. A woman of great faith, she was a devout Roman Catholic who attended St. Kevin's Church. She was a longtime member of the parish CWL having served as president. She had been recognized for her many years of hard work and leadership. She was the Past District Deputy and life member of the Order of the Royal Purple. She was always an active person who embraced life and lived it to the fullest. She had many activities including bowling, reading, crafts and curling. She curled many years at the Sudbury Curling Club. An artistic person her crafts, especially her porcelain dolls are treasured by many. The focus of her life was her loving family. The light of her love will continue to encourage and guide them. Beloved wife of George W. Ketter predeceased 1992. Loving mother of Charles Ketter (wife Yvonne predeceased) of Val Caron, George Jr. Ketter (wife Sandra) of Fonthill, Rev. Michael Ketter (wife Delma) of North Bay, Richard Ketter (wife Judy) of Sudbury, Annie Marie “Annie“ Ketter predeceased 2000, Irene Charette (husband Rene) of Chelmsford, and Cecile Parker (husband Richard) of Levack. Cherished grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Dear daughter of Frank and Adela (Pilkey) Swords predeceased. Dear sister of Frank (predeceased) (wife Iris both predeceased), Paul (wife Alice predeceased), Raymond (wife Irene) and Gerald (wife Alice) all of Welland and the late Helen Weasner, Rita Minor and John Swords all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME Val Caron/Blezard Valley Chapel, 1815 Main St. Val Caron. Funeral Mass in St. Kevin's Church, Val Therese Friday, December 12th, 2008 at 11 a.m., prayers 3:00 p.m. Thursday. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Civic Cemetery.
