Yvonne Lucille (Desjardins) Lauzon September 30, 1921-September 10, 2003 The family announces with sorrow her death at the Timmins and District Hospital on Wednesday September 10, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by her parents who she loved and missed so much, Venane Desjardins and Mary (St. Jules) Desjardins, and her loving sisters Millie, Lovina, Marie-Jeanne and brother Victor Desjardins. Survived by her loving husband of 59 years Roland Lauzon, dearest mother of Lucille Last (Darryll) of Timmins and Carmen Wood (John) of Ottawa Sadly missed by her grandchildren: Mellissa Last of Toronto (husband Shawn Fauvelle), Ian Wood of Burlington and Jamie Wood of Ottawa. Also survived by her nephew René Lauzon (Aline) of Sturgeon Falls who she always regarded as her son. She devoted her life to her family, especially her 3 grandchildren who where always the most important thing to her. EYOLFUR RONALD (RON) EYOLFSON It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of Ron on Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at the age of 56 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Dolores (nee Beauchemin); and sons, Daryl (Colleen) and their children, Brett and Dustin, of Fort Frances, Ont., Todd (Joy) of Windsor, Ont., Todd’s son, Tyler J and his mother, Christine Mann, of Dryden, Ont., and Brian (Marla) Beauchemin and their sons, Matthew, Stephan, and Cody of Arborg, Man. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Gloria (Jack) Zacharias of Winnipeg, Man, Carol (Bob) Thordarson, and Jackie (Wayne) Ireland of Gimli, Man.; his sisters-in-law, Judy (Tom) Hall of Skagway, AK, and Marlene Cochrane of Whitehorse, Yukon; brother-in-law, Roger (Michelle) Beauchemin of Watson Lake, B.C.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and close friend, Rick Siedel. Ron was predeceased by his father on Aug. 15, 2000; his mother on Oct. 24, 2001; his father-in-law, Lionel, on Dec. 24, 1982; his mother-in-law, Ionia, on Feb. 11, 1995; and his great niece, Samantha Zacharias, on Feb. 14, 1990. Ron was born in Geysir, Man. on Jan. 12, 1947, the only son of Svein Eyolfur Eyolfson and Gudrun (Loa) Anna Eyolfson. He lived for a short time in Geysir and Pine Falls, before the family settled in Gimli, Man., where he grew up. He worked summers at his Afi Joe Thordarson’s mink ranch. He married Dolores on Oct. 16, 1965 in Gimli. They moved with their two sons, Daryl and Todd, to Emo, Ont. in 1970, when Ron joined the Ontario Provincial Police force. They relocated to Fort Frances in 1971 and lived there with their sons and Dolores’ brother, Brian, who came to live with them at the age of 12, until 1983, when Ron was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to Bradford, Ont. His career later took them to Red Lake in 1988, and then back to Fort Frances in 1993. He retired from the O.P.P. in 1998. Ron’s greatest passion was his grandsons, Brett, Dustin, and Tyler J. Ron was an excellent curler and enjoyed the fellowship with his buddies during the many bonspiels and playdowns in which he participated. It was during high school curling that he met his wife, Dolores. His curling ability took him to the Ontario Tankard as well as, on an almost yearly basis, to the provincial playdowns in the Canadian Police Curling Championships. He twice reached the national playdowns and in 1998, his last year of curling, he was awarded the all-star second award in St. John’s, Nfld. He also was an avid golfer and enjoyed this game over the years with his family and his close friends. One of the golf hi-lights was his yearly golf vacation to Myrtle Beach with Rick, Brian, Don, Larry, and Randy. Many other trips included Minnesota, North Dakota, and Manitoba with family and friends. He passed his love of these games, as well as boating and fishing, onto his sons and his cherished grandsons, Brett, Dustin, and Tyler J. Ron’s involvement in the communities he lived in was not limited to sports. He was a member of the Red Lake Lions Club and served on the Red Lake Hospital Board. He also was an elder of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances. Ron was made a Mason at Granite Lodge # 446 in Fort Frances and later was master of the Chukuni Lodge in Red Lake. He also was a member of Alberton Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, Ledger Preceptary, Knights Templar of Canada, and the Border Shrine Club. As per family wishes, Ron is being cremated prior to services. A memorial visitation took place Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, beginning with a short Masonic service. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Brian Keffer of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Siedel, Brian Lowry, Larry Indian, Don Robertson, Doug Judson, Randy Ronnebeck, Ross Chessell, and Larry McCoy. 1919 - 2003 Monsieur le Chanoine Pierre Lanctôt, prêtre du diocèse de Saint-Jean-Longueuil, est décédé au Centre hospitalier Honoré-Mercier de Saint-Hyacinthe, le 13 septembre 2003. Il aurait eu 85 ans le 23 septembre. Il était le fils de Côme Lanctôt et de Bernadette Simon. Il a été ordonné le 6 mai 1945 par Mgr Anastase Forget. Il a été professeur au Séminaire de Saint-Jean de 1945 à 1947 et aux études à l'Université Laval de 1947 à 1949. Il a occupé le poste d'aumônier du Syndicat National de 1949 à 1953. Il a été vicaire à Saint-Lambert (1953) et à la Cathédrale Saint-Jean-l'Évangéliste (1954 à 1958). Curé fondateur de la paroisse SaintEugène de 1958 à 1968; curé à Saint-Lambert de 1968 à 1970. De 1970 à 1978, il fut curé de la Cathédrale et nommé membre titulaire du Chapitre Cathédrale. Il devint curé de la paroisse Saint-Rémi en janvier 1978 et y demeura jusqu'en 1980, moment où il fut nommé vicaire à demi-temps à la paroisse Saint-Antoine et aumônier du Foyer Saint-Antoine et du Centre d'accueil Chevalier-de-Lévis. En 1999, il s'est retiré à la Résidence Léonie-Paradis de La Prairie. Il laisse dans le deuil ses soeurs Pauline (feu Marcel Laflamme) et Marcelle (Dr Marcellin Laporte), son frère André (Simone Bazinet), ses belles-soeurs Madeleine Doyon (feu Simon) et Julienne Desgens (feu Paul) et de nombreux neveux et nièces, ainsi que ses confrères prêtres du diocèse de SaintJean-Longueuil. Mr. Joseph Eugene Tremblay 1928-2003 Loving memories of Joseph Eugene Tremblay, 75, who passed away on September 11th, 2003, after a brief but brave battle. He was born in McIntosh Springs and later moved to Porquis which always remained home to him. He owned the Canada Hotel until he sold it in 1978. He moved to Hamilton to be close to family and in 1999 moved to Chelmsford to once again enjoy the North. Passed away on Friday, September 12th in hospital following a brief but gallant fight with cancer at the age of 73. Frederick Keith Amos is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Joyce; his two loving children, Janet (Hien) and Ian; his sister Muriel (Hugh); many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and special nieces and nephews. Since his retirement from C.P. Rail in 1986, Keith enjoyed travelling, lawn bowling, curling, square dancing and participating in the Hazeldean Mall In Club and made many wonderful friends. He will be sadly missed by all and fondly remembered for his generous spirit, wonderful sense of humour, and love of life and people. MABEL MELVINA GLUEHEISEN Mabel Melvina Glueheisen, 102, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances. She was born in Webster, Wis. on Aug. 12, 1901 to Anna and Oscar Pratt. She married Ralph Marsh on Nov. 15, 1919. She had worked in tourist resorts for some years. On Nov. 25, 1927, she married Bill Glueheisen and they moved to Clearwater Lake, Emo, Ont. Together they owned and operated Voyageur’s Lodge for 37 years. They later moved to Fort Frances. She enjoyed the outdoor life, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening. Mabel is survived by her sons, Murtis (Mary) Marsh of International Falls, Mn., and Milton (Betty) Glueheisen of Fort Frances, Ont. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Lee, Larry, Leonard, Lance, Gary, and Diane; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Marsh; her second husband, Bill Glueheisen; her parents, Anna and Oscar Pratt; and three brothers, George, Charlie, and Renaldo. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Pastor Ken Johnson officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances. Friends visited Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home. Dr. David S. Born in Norwich, England in 1937, died Friday, September 12th doing what he loved best, playing soccer. For 36 years he was the loving husband of Catherine and father and father-in-law to, Jennie and Ian, Chris and April, and Katie and Jarrett. After qualifying as a barrister at Oxford University, he came to Canada in 1966 completing a PhD in Applied Psychology at the University of Toronto. He lived in Ottawa for 31 years and was Manager of Research and Evaluation at the Carleton Board of Education. He loved playing soccer and was instrumental in starting leagues around Ottawa in the 70's. He continued to play year-round, indoor and outdoor. A connoisseur and maker of wine, he was a member of several local clubs. He was an enthusiast of dixieland jazz, regularly heard serenading fellow Rideau Lake cottagers with his trumpet playing. He was generous, thoughtful, loving and friendly. If he did not already know everyone, he would offer a handshake. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Il fut prédécédé par son fils Philippe; sa fille Micheline (Remi Lafond); ses frères et soeurs: Sylva (Georgette), Raymond (Marie-Blanche), Lucille et Thérèse. Est décédé à sa résidence, entouré de l’amour des siens, le 13 septembre 2003, à l’âge de 49 ans et 1 mois, M. Gérald Harvey, fils de dame Gaétane Tremblay (feu Armand Harvey), demeurant à Chicoutimi. La famille accueillera les parents et ami(e)s le dimanche 14 septembre 2003 de 19 h à 22 h et le lundi 15 septembre 2003 de 9 h à 10 h 45 à la Coopérative funéraire de Chicoutimi 560 rue Simard St-Ambroise Les funérailles auront lieu le lundi 15 septembre 2003 à 11 h à l’église de St-Ambroise. Il sera incinéré au crématorium de la Coopérative Funéraire de Chicoutimi et les cendres inhumées au cimetière paroissial. Le défunt laisse dans le deuil sa mère: Gaétane Tremblay (feu Armand Harvey); ses frères et soeurs: Régent Harvey, Lynn, Alain, Marlène (Nicol Gauthier) et Joëlle (André Cossette); sa filleule: Marylin; ses neveux et nièces: Catherine, Omar, Leila, Emy, Caroline, Yoan et Roxanne. Il laisse également dans le deuil de nombreux parents et ami(e)s ainsi que l’ami de sa mère Georges Migneault. M. Harvey travaillait depuis plus de 20 ans en tant qu’intervenant dans divers milieux.
